Nymph-free at last

Based on their previously mentioned apparent rate of reproduction, I was completely prepared to find my entire backyard overwhelmed with leaf-footed bug nymphs this morning.  I fixed a drink and planned to have Travis take pictures of my next campaign against these stylish little bugs.

Unfortunately (or fortunately?), the nymphs are gone so instead of getting to post an awesome picture of me vacuuming my tomato plants, drink in hand, while our neighbor, Mrs. Dorsey, looks out her bathroom window with that "you crazy white boys" look she gives us, I had to come up with something else to post this morning. Though I am convinced my vacuum strategy is sound, so if the nymphs have gone off to regroup only to return in full force later, I'll be ready and it should make for a fun photo op. For now, my avid fan base will just have to make do with this picture of me watering some seedlings (Photo credit: Dr. Travis White).

Thus far, I've only posted pictures of insects so, for your viewing pleasure, here is one of the morning glory flowers that opened this morning. I really love the color of this one. The aphids apparently didn't cause too much damage.

I'm also posting this one because I have no clue what these things are. Maybe bugs, maybe something's eggs? I really have no idea. I found them this morning sitting on top of nasturtium leaves and flowers. I'll keep an eye on them and see if they hatch or start eating the plants. That should help narrow it down a bit.
